A Capgemini Case Study
HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) faced the UK Government's challenge to achieve universal online tax filing by 2012. To implement this strategy and design the necessary IT systems for new online services, HMRC worked with its IT partner, Capgemini.
Capgemini designed and implemented the Self Assessment Online service on a scalable, disaster-tolerant infrastructure. This solution led to a 50% increase in online filings, with 5.8 million returns submitted and 69% of customers choosing to file online. The project was completed on time and on budget, saving £20 million in processing costs in its first year and earning a Guardian Public Sector Award for Capgemini and HMRC.
