A Capgemini Case Study
HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) required a new partner to transition its mission-critical CHIEF customs system without disrupting the £20 billion in revenue it processes. The challenge was to take over the sophisticated system from the outgoing supplier, ensure continued 24/7 operation for UK trade, and modernize the infrastructure. HMRC selected Capgemini for this outsourcing and infrastructure management task.
Capgemini implemented the solution by building a new, resilient platform with dual data centers and centralized support, working collaboratively with HMRC and the previous supplier. The result was a successful transfer completed on time and under budget with no disruption to the movement of goods or revenue collection. The new service, managed by Capgemini, assured ongoing availability, reduced costs through economies of scale, and provided a foundation for future modernization.
