First Worldwide Computer-based Plant Maintenance System Implementation with SAP WAS – Web Application Server

Aéroports de Paris, a major airport operator, needed to implement a new computer-based maintenance system to improve its performance and cost-effectiveness amid fierce international competition. The company tasked its vendor, Capgemini, with creating a solution that would be both functionally rich and user-friendly for its large workforce.

Capgemini implemented the SAP Web Application Server (WAS) to design an intranet-based system, integrating the SAP Plant Management module with the existing back office and other internal applications. This first-of-its-kind implementation radically improved Aéroports de Paris’ performance and cost-effectiveness by reducing intervention costs and providing better oversight. The success of this project led Capgemini to be chosen for a subsequent e-Procurement implementation.
