Finland Post (Posti), a leading Finnish postal and logistics service, faced significant annual costs from the loss and damage of its roll-cage transport units. The company engaged Capgemini to assess if a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) track-and-trace solution could improve asset management, ensure cages were in the right place at the right time, and enhance customer service.

Capgemini developed and implemented a best-of-breed passive UHF RFID solution. This included lab testing and a technology pilot done in collaboration with Posti's team, which successfully achieved a 100% read rate. The solution provided Posti with unprecedented data on roll-cage movements, enabling them to reduce management overhead, improve operational efficiency, and expect a good return on investment.
