A Capgemini Case Study
The Bundesverwaltungsamt (BVA), Germany's Federal Office of Administration, faced the challenge of integrating the new European Visa Information System (VIS) into its national visa processes to meet EU regulations. To address this, the BVA engaged Capgemini sd&m to develop an integration strategy and extend its existing IT systems to work with the new European database.
Capgemini implemented a service-oriented architecture, extending the BVA's national systems and building new interfaces to connect with the VIS. This solution provided a transparent and highly automated integration, minimizing additional workload for users. As a result, Germany was among the first countries to fully integrate the VIS, enhancing national security for visa decisions and earning an excellent reputation with the European Commission. The success of the project was attributed to Capgemini's close cooperation and technical expertise throughout the entire project lifecycle.
