Faster, More Flexible Delivery at ABB Robotics

ABB Robotics faced the challenge of streamlining its business-critical systems, from product development to customer orders, to meet the high demands for flexibility and delivery speed from its clients in the motor industry. To address this, they partnered with vendor Capgemini to implement a standard configured solution based on SAP.

Capgemini implemented a fully integrated SAP-based solution that supported manufacturing, sales, distribution, and after-sales, among other functions. The solution enabled a paper-less production process and gave 900 users online access to vital information. The results included a record month for robot deliveries immediately after commissioning, improved flexibility, and more efficient planning and purchasing. An economic calculation showed the project met its repayment goals, was completed on time, and came in under budget.
