Case Study: European Food Retailer achieves sustainable packaging transformation with Capgemini Invent

A Capgemini Case Study

Preview of the European Food Retailer Case Study

European food retailer assumes strategic approach to sustainable packaging

European Food Retailer faced growing pressure from consumers and regulators to improve the sustainability of its private-label packaging. Although it had launched several initiatives, it lacked measurable goals, KPIs, processes, and tools to coordinate change, and selected Capgemini Invent as its transformation partner to build a more strategic approach.

Capgemini Invent assessed packaging laws, market trends, and the full private-label assortment, then helped define a sustainability roadmap, supplier collaboration model, and internal tools and KPIs. The results included more than 100 pilot projects, packaging improvements for 25% of private-label articles (about 50% of annual volume) within 18 months, and around 200 tons of plastic saved, with targets set for 100% recyclable plastic packaging by 2025.
