A Capgemini Case Study
EDF Energy, one of the world's largest energy and utility companies, faced a critical challenge tracking mandatory mobile air supply units used to protect technicians during sensitive maintenance in its nuclear reactors. The lack of a remote monitoring system for this essential safety equipment risked costly delays to outage schedules. Capgemini was engaged to provide a smarter solution.
Capgemini implemented an Internet of Things-based asset tracking system using its XIoT platform and Intel technology. The solution provided real-time visibility of the air supply units' locations and battery status on a central dashboard, along with automated alerts. This allowed EDF Energy’s crews to ensure the right safety equipment was in the right place, preventing work delays. The successful pilot is being evaluated for global deployment to track other high-value assets.
