Electrabel, a division of the major energy provider GDF SUEZ, faced a challenge due to the opening of the European energy market. They needed to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of their business processes, reduce complexity, and accelerate harmonization across their Benelux and German operations. To address this, Electrabel selected vendor Capgemini to design and implement a new, unique SAP platform.

Capgemini implemented the STAR program, a single-instance SAP platform to harmonize and simplify business processes. The solution integrated core functions including Finance, Procurement, Maintenance, and HR. This implementation allowed Electrabel to achieve operational efficiency, better corporate governance, and a significantly reduced Total Cost of Ownership. The project was delivered on time and on budget, and the standardized platform enables easier integration of future acquired companies.
