Cognex upgrades expand SAP S/4HANA opportunities

Cognex, a manufacturing automation provider, needed to upgrade its SAP S/4HANA platform from 1610 to 1909 to fix existing issues, improve stability, and stay current with SAP releases. Cognex worked with Capgemini on the upgrade, using extensive testing and careful planning to reduce risk and ensure a smooth transition.

Capgemini helped Cognex execute hundreds of test cases, manage issues with SAP, and complete mock cutovers that identified nearly all major problems before go-live. The result was a more stable environment and a stronger foundation for future capabilities like group reporting, expanded Fiori apps, and SAP IBP exploration, with Cognex estimating that 80% to 90% of significant issues were caught early.
