Capgemini takes VDAB to the cloud with a successful migration to Google Apps

VDAB, a Flemish public employment and training service, sought to consolidate its business systems to become more client-centric and reduce IT costs across its 250+ locations. The organization, under CIO Paul Danneels, turned to vendor Capgemini for support in finding a comprehensive cloud solution to replace its existing Novell Groupwise platform and enable better collaboration.

Capgemini implemented Google Apps for the customer, managing a full migration of 6,000 user accounts. The solution included a detailed technical implementation and a parallel change management plan to ensure a smooth transition. As a result, VDAB achieved improved efficiency, real-time collaboration, and significant cost savings of approximately €500,000 per year, making it the first Belgian public sector organization to move to Google Apps.
