GlasfaserPlus, a German telecommunications company expanding fiber-optic networks nationwide, needed a better way to manage delays in thousands of complex projects affected by external factors such as permits, weather, and partner availability. Working with Capgemini, the company looked for a solution that could handle the large volume of documents and unstructured information its back office receives from emails, letters, faxes, and field updates.
Capgemini implemented a GenAI-based solution using a large language model to convert unstructured PDF documents into structured data, automatically gathering, reading, classifying, and documenting key project information. After eight weeks, the system began helping GlasfaserPlus predict construction delays faster, optimize workforce allocation, improve stakeholder communication, and reduce back-office workload and costs.
