A Capgemini Case Study
Cadbury Schweppes, the world's largest confectionery company, faced significant risk and expense from maintaining numerous disparate SAP systems. Their initial effort to consolidate into three regional systems proved difficult and negatively impacted revenue. They engaged the vendor Capgemini for a more flexible solution, seeking to reduce risk and increase IT responsiveness to business change.
Capgemini helped the company establish an architecture office and implement a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) using their Integrated Architecture Framework. This new component-based approach allowed for solutions to be developed as reusable services and deployed in smaller, more manageable steps. As a result, Capgemini's solution significantly reduced the risks associated with large-scale rollouts, provided greater flexibility for the business, and established a framework for tracking the reusability of IT services.
