Building a smart factory powered by Capgemini’s Intelligent Industry and SAP S/4HANA

Nikola Iveco Europe GMBH needed to create a new, highly digital factory to support production of zero-emission trucks in Ulm, Germany, and ensure full traceability across assembly, planning, and manufacturing. The company turned to Capgemini to help design the smart factory and build a completely digital assembly process, using SAP S/4HANA as part of the solution.

Capgemini implemented an Intelligent Industry approach built on SAP S/4HANA, including SAP EWM for warehouse management and SAP MII for manufacturing and quality processes, with AI, IoT, Edge, and 5G connecting engineering, equipment, and products. As a result, Nikola Iveco Europe GMBH gained a lean, flexible infrastructure with smooth data flow from planning to production, enabling the new facility needed for zero-emission truck manufacturing and advancing sustainability and operational performance.
