A Capgemini Case Study
Bayerische Versorgungskammer (BVK), Germany's largest public pension fund group, faced a significant challenge following a major legislative overhaul. Their existing IT system could no longer handle the new complexity of pension products and mixed financing models, jeopardizing the accurate management of its €59 billion in assets. To address this, BVK partnered with vendor Capgemini to develop and implement a new, robust software system to manage its diverse pension schemes and ensure compliance.
Capgemini's solution involved creating and customizing a series of business modules with complex interfaces to external organizations, all underpinned by an Oracle database. The implementation, which leveraged Capgemini's Rightshore® delivery model, automated legislative changes and provided BVK's staff with a simplified workflow. The result is a highly accurate and secure system that manages contributions and payments for 1.7 million insured persons, solidifying BVK's reputation as a technology leader in pension consultation. Capgemini has maintained the system since 2008, with the partnership extended due to its success.
