A Capgemini Case Study

Preview of the Australian Rugby Union Case Study

Australian Rugby Union - Customer Case Study

The Australian Rugby Union (ARU) faced a 15-year challenge in creating a new national competition to reverse its declining global ranking and bridge gaps in its player development pathway. After numerous failed initiatives, the ARU engaged vendor Capgemini to conduct root-cause analysis and develop a winning solution using their collaborative methods, including the ASE DesignShop®.

Capgemini’s solution involved three months of planning with over 1,000 stakeholders, culminating in a 3-day DesignShop® event that aligned 70 key leaders. The vendor facilitated the creation of a new competition structure, governance model, and a unified five-year vision. The result was the successful design of a national competition within an existing playing window, with full stakeholder buy-in and a signed commitment to launch, marking the sport's biggest change since it turned professional.
