Oshkosh Area School District - Customer Case Study

Oshkosh Area School District in Wisconsin set out to deploy a 1:1 laptop program for more than 10,000 students but needed a robust learning management system to support personalized instruction, standards-based assessment, and seamless integration with their student information system. Teachers found Google Classroom useful but limited, and district leaders wanted a single, interoperable platform to consolidate resources, simplify workflows, and support students, parents, and staff.

After a teacher-led evaluation, the district selected Canvas in 2015, trained staff over the summer, and rolled it out to students that fall. With district-led professional development and strong integrations (including Google Drive), Canvas streamlined workflows, earned high usability ratings from faculty, enabled standards-based grading and differentiated instruction, and helped Oshkosh advance its “Learning Without Limits” initiative to improve communication, pedagogy, and student learning.
