Marshfield Public Schools in Marshfield, MA opened a new state-of-the-art high school in 2014 and planned a district-wide 1:1 rollout for the following year. After piloting devices, the district selected Chromebooks but needed a single launch point to organize instruction and sustain a technology-rich environment — prompting a search for a learning management system.

In 2015 Marshfield adopted Canvas, hired seven 1:1 coaches to develop best practices and deliver training, and rolled out roughly 1,300–1,350 Chromebooks in September. Canvas became the instructional hub—streamlining communication, grading, and content delivery—and drove unexpectedly high adoption (reported first-year usage near 99%, with 70–75% of teachers using it daily and nearly 100% weekly), speeding the rollout and improving teacher efficiency.
