A Canto Case Study

The University of Hong Kong uses Canto to utilize their 100-year-old photo archives

The University of Hong Kong, with a 100‑year archive of photos and a growing multimedia workload led by Lillian Tam, faced slow, fragmented access to its digital assets stored on cumbersome on‑campus servers. To centralize its historical and recent media and stop staff from re‑creating assets because they couldn’t find existing ones, The University of Hong Kong implemented a digital asset management system from Canto.

Canto delivered an intuitive DAM with custom configurations, user‑privilege controls and Portal galleries that let departments and the press browse approved assets directly. As a result, Canto helped the university centralize and organize its complete media library, reduce time spent searching or duplicating work, streamline cross‑department sharing, and give the communications team better visibility and control over campus multimedia.
