Utah Tax Clinic Able To Serve 30% More Clients Thanks To Canopy Donation

Centro Hispano Tax Clinic is a Utah-based nonprofit with two offices and only two full-time employees that provides free tax resolution services to low-income Latino individuals and families across several Western states. Faced with heavy caseloads, language barriers, and added COVID-19 complications, the clinic struggled to stay organized and respond efficiently to IRS inquiries until Canopy donated its tax-practice software and services beginning in 2020.

Canopy implemented centralized case management, secure document storage, shared client notes and task tracking, which improved communication between the Provo and Salt Lake City offices and made IRS interactions faster and more reliable. As a result of Canopy’s donation, Centro Hispano increased efficiency by about 60%, saved roughly 40% of time on workflows, and was able to serve about 30% more clients (over 600 clients), while reducing errors and meeting increased COVID-era demand.
