Comdatek GmbH, a fast-growing German provider of printed marketing communications, needed a more productive and higher-quality way to produce a wide range of large-format applications, including posters and backlit signage. Its existing solvent and latex-based printing processes were reaching their limits in quality, consistency, and daily maintenance, especially as demand increased.

Canon Europe Ltd. supplied five Océ Colorado 1640 roll-to-roll printers with UVgel technology, giving Comdatek much faster production, better print quality, and greater media flexibility. The company reported that the Canon systems work twice as fast as its solvent-ink machines, and in just two months the first two printers produced more than 30,000 square metres of output, while also reducing cleaning time and improving efficiency.
