Wellpointe increases the accuracy and scalability of its Medication Order Management System with Camunda

Wellpointe, a North American provider of affordable, boutique-style residential assisted living and coordinated healthcare services for older adults, needed a way to handle increasingly complex medication order workflows at scale. Its existing COTS systems couldn’t support idiosyncratic use cases, and manual processing of medication orders was taking about 15 to 16 minutes per order, creating major scalability and efficiency challenges. Wellpointe turned to Camunda Process Orchestration & Automation to help modernize this critical workflow.

With Camunda, Wellpointe built an event-driven Medication Order Management System that uses AI to extract and read PDF orders, orchestrate approvals, and automatically send personalized SMS updates to families. The result was a significant reduction in manual work: 85% of complex medication orders are now automated, manual intervention dropped from 50% to 15% within a year, and the company saves about 15 minutes per medication order while improving accuracy, transparency, and scalability.
