Case Study: Freenet Group achieves scalable, transparent sales process automation with Camunda

A Camunda Case Study

Preview of the Freenet Group Case Study

Supporting key sales processes to deliver various internet portals and services to new and current customers

Freenet Group, a leading independent telecommunications and digital lifestyle provider in Germany, needed to replace a decade-old, costly bespoke system for key sales processes (contracting, upgrades, terminations) after outsourcing billing. They required high automation, end-to-end transparency, and an architecture that fit their Java EE skillset. To meet these goals they selected the Camunda BPM platform (including Camunda Cockpit and Camunda Cycle) with implementation support from OPITZ CONSULTING.

Camunda implemented a process-driven solution running on a JBoss cluster with processes modeled in Signavio and managed via Camunda Cycle, enabling product and development teams to work from the same BPMN models. Over time 73 main and sub-processes were deployed, with main processes averaging 6,500 instances per day and a combined total of about 27,600 instances/day; Camunda Cockpit provided fast visibility and recovery of errors while business users could manage changes and deploy new versions quickly. Camunda’s platform thus delivered the required transparency, operational control and scalable automation, and the solution was handed over to freenet.de developers for ongoing maintenance.
