Case Study: LVM Insurance achieves streamlined administrative workflows and asynchronous inventory processing with Camunda

A Camunda Case Study

Preview of the LVM Insurance Case Study

Managing accident and legal protection processes along with motor damage and property processes

LVM Insurance, one of Germany’s top 20 insurance groups and a leading car insurer, faced manual, undocumented administrative workflows and the need to move life-contract processing from nightly batch runs to asynchronous, single-record processing. They also wanted to replace a heavyweight, costly BPMS with a simpler, developer-friendly alternative. To meet these goals they selected Camunda and its Camunda BPM / Process Engine.

Camunda delivered a lightweight BPMN-based implementation—introducing a Task List for the SOM administrative processes and asynchronous processing for the “inventory management life” project—built using Java and BPMN. The Camunda Process Engine went live in Q2 2014 and has run stable and largely error-free since, achieving project objectives; accident and legal processes were migrated to Camunda in March 2015 with damage processes to follow, reducing complexity, speeding development, and lowering dependence on the previous heavyweight BPMS.
