LVM Insurance replaces heavyweight BPMS with Camunda and goes stable by Q2 2014

LVM Insurance, a German insurance group, faced challenges with manual administrative processes and a reliance on a heavyweight, costly BPMS for service orchestration. For their Service Order Management (SOM) and inventory management projects, they needed a lightweight, developer-friendly solution to automate and manage these processes efficiently. They turned to the vendor Camunda and its process engine.

Camunda provided a lightweight BPMN-based process engine that required only Java knowledge, replacing the complex previous system. The implementation of Camunda for SOM and asynchronous inventory processing was successful, with both systems running stably and error-free since 2014. As a result, LVM Insurance expanded its use of Camunda, migrating additional accident, legal protection, and damage processes from the old BPMS to the Camunda engine.
