How First American increased operational efficiency, business empowerment, and regulatory compliance with Camunda

First American, the 135‑year‑old real estate and financial services leader, faced rigid legacy systems, operational bottlenecks, limited flexibility, and strict data‑sensitivity and compliance requirements. Beginning in 2019 it engaged Camunda, using the Camunda Platform to modernize workflows, reduce engineering dependence, and enable faster adaptation to changing business and regulatory needs.

Camunda implemented a lightweight, microservices‑friendly process orchestration layer with modular workflows and a user‑friendly design interface (notably the “Choose Your Own Adventure” pipeline), giving non‑technical teams control of processes while preserving traceability. The result: by a Q1 2024 subset First American processed 87,853 orders across 105,000 products, generated over 58 million flow node instances and made 155 million automated decisions—driving operational efficiency, cost savings, improved accuracy, stronger compliance, reduced engineering backlog, and greater scalability thanks to Camunda.
