Case Study: 24 Hour Fitness achieves 20M+ daily process executions and operational transparency with Camunda

A Camunda Case Study

Preview of the 24 Hour Fitness Case Study

Executing more than 20M BPMN workflow instances and 18M DMN decision instances per day

24 Hour Fitness, a leading U.S. health club chain serving nearly 4 million members, faced growing operational complexity because orchestration, transformation and business rules were buried in Java code—making system behavior opaque, onboarding slow and requirements translation error-prone. After evaluating options, they selected Camunda (Camunda BPM) to externalize BPMN and DMN logic so product owners, architects and developers could more easily review and validate processes and rules.

By implementing Camunda, 24 Hour Fitness now runs roughly 190 deployed processes and 40 DMN tables, executing over 20 million activity instances and evaluating over 20 million decision instances per day. Camunda delivered greater transparency and visibility across infrastructure and operations, enabled design-time reviews that surface logic and terminology issues earlier, and made it easier to find bugs, refactor, and approve production changes with higher confidence.
