Driving digital transformation at NORD/LB with Center of Excellence (CoE) success

NORD/LB, one of Germany’s major commercial banks, faced the imperative of large-scale digital transformation to cut inefficiencies and improve customer experience. In 2020 the bank established a Workflow Automation Center of Excellence (CoE) and partnered with Camunda, deploying the Camunda Platform to standardize process orchestration, enable teams, and drive automation across multiple business domains.

Camunda helped NORD/LB implement its Process Orchestration Adoption Framework, reusable templates, centralized/decentralized governance, and training to scale automated solutions. The CoE delivered measurable impact through significantly faster processing and deployment times, lower operational costs, improved regulatory compliance and more data-driven decision-making, while enhancing customer satisfaction and employee motivation; NORD/LB now plans further hyperautomation and rollout of Camunda 8.
