A Camunda Case Study
Deutsche Telekom IT GmbH, the internal IT service provider for Deutsche Telekom AG, faced significant challenges with its outdated monolithic Oracle BPEL system. This architecture resulted in a lengthy time-to-market of over 12 months, vendor lock-in, and releases that took an average of 1,000 people-days to complete. To modernize and achieve greater agility, they partnered with Camunda to implement a new process automation solution using Camunda Platform.
The solution involved migrating to a microservices-based architecture in the cloud with Camunda workflow engines running in many microservices. Camunda provided a central process orchestration layer that enabled compliance by default, visualized complex process logic, and aligned human and automated tasks. This transformation also allowed Deutsche Telekom to maximize its investment in 3,000 RPA bots by improving visibility and reducing maintenance costs, ultimately leading to a more robust and efficient automation framework.
