A CampusGroups Case Study
KAUST, the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, partnered with CampusGroups in June 2020 to replace a legacy student life community platform that was manual, inflexible, hard to use, and not engaging for students. During the COVID-19 lockdown, the university needed a one-stop-shop for student life that could support a diverse campus of about 1,000 students across more than 90 nationalities, while also being easy for staff to adopt and quick to launch.
CampusGroups delivered a highly customizable, web and mobile community platform with automated workflows, reporting, event registration and check-in, checklists, and engagement tools tailored to KAUST’s needs. KAUST launched in just six weeks, rolled out virtual orientation and campus apps, and saw strong adoption: 24 workflow templates created, over 815 approvals, 29 checklists with 15,633 items checked off, and 2,282 unique check-ins in 2020 plus 5,252 in 2021. CampusGroups also helped KAUST expand engagement with over 40 active groups and increasing use of chat, news, jobs, and community features.
