A CampusESP Case Study
SUNY Oneonta faced the challenge of effectively supporting its large and growing population of first-generation students and their families. These families required more frequent and accessible communication regarding crucial information like financial aid and academic calendars, but often struggled to find it. To address this, the university partnered with CampusESP to improve its family engagement strategy.
Using the CampusESP platform, SUNY Oneonta implemented a proactive communication solution, mirroring student resources for families and providing content in both English and Spanish. This strategy led to a significant increase in engagement, with first-generation families achieving email open rates well over 60%. The results showed that targeted engagement through CampusESP had a direct, positive impact on student retention, which was 8.3% higher on average for students whose parents received alerts.
