A Cameyo Case Study
Community High School District 99 (CSD99), an Illinois district serving nearly 5,000 students across two high schools, needed a way to keep distance learning running when COVID-19 hit. While every student already had a Chromebook, many courses still depended on Windows applications that couldn’t run on those devices, leaving the district unable to fully deliver specialized coursework without access to PC labs. CSD99 turned to Cameyo, a digital workspace solution, to bridge that gap.
Cameyo enabled CSD99 to deliver Windows apps—including AutoCAD Suite and Adobe Creative Suite—to students through a browser on their Chromebooks, using CPU-based servers for productivity apps and GPU-based servers for graphics-intensive software. The deployment was up and running within hours, helped the district avoid the complexity of legacy VDI/DaaS tools, and gave students seamless access to full desktop applications from anywhere. The result was uninterrupted learning, reduced dependence on PC labs, and a stronger long-term strategy for extending Chromebook use across the district; students even requested continued access over the summer.
