The Ocean Cleanup documents a 3-month Interceptor build with CamDo Solutions

The Ocean Cleanup, a nonprofit aiming to rid the oceans of plastic, needed to document the long-term construction of its plastic interceptor systems with a reliable, self-sufficient, and cost-effective time-lapse solution. They faced challenges with low winter sunlight and the need for a simple, durable setup that could run autonomously for months without complex installation. CamDo Solutions provided the solution, utilizing a CamDo Blink intervalometer housed in a SolarX enclosure with a GoPro camera.

The CamDo system captured the entire assembly process from November 2018 to May 2019 on a set schedule, operating reliably through Dutch winter conditions without losing power. This allowed The Ocean Cleanup's creative team to focus on storytelling and composition, resulting in compelling video content that raised awareness for their critical mission. The success of this project has led them to plan further deployments with CamDo, including ambitious autonomous time-lapse documentation in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.
