A Cambridge Semantics Case Study
PwC, a global provider of assurance, tax, and advisory services, faced a challenge in helping its financial clients detect the potential misuse of material nonpublic information. The existing tools on the market were inadequate for the complex task of holistically linking and analyzing disparate data sources like emails, instant messages, and trading data to uncover hidden relationships and compliance violations. To address this, PwC turned to the Anzo Smart Data Platform from vendor Cambridge Semantics.
Cambridge Semantics' Anzo Smart Data Platform provided a semantic, graph-based solution that allowed PwC to ingest and link vast amounts of structured and unstructured data from multiple sources. This enabled compliance officers to perform sophisticated relationship analysis and investigate potential violations in an interactive manner. PwC built an insider trading ontology on the platform for its clients. While a formal ROI was not calculated, clients were happy with the solution, which moved them beyond traditional search and provided critical insights into complex data patterns.
