WSP - Customer Case Study

WSP Telecom of Santarém, Brazil was facing rapid capacity and scalability limits across its wireless network, losing customers as service became unstable. Towers were at CPE capacity and interference between APs prevented adding more subscribers; previous vendors’ equipment could not support the high number of CPE per AP WSP needed. To address these challenges, WSP engaged Cambium Networks and evaluated Cambium’s ePMP 5 GHz wireless broadband and PTP 800 licensed microwave solutions.

Cambium Networks deployed ePMP and PTP 800 across five cities, installing 36 APs that now support over 3,000 Subscriber Modules, managed centrally with Cambium’s Wireless Manager and cnMaestro cloud software; the installation team was certified for the equipment. The Cambium solution interoperated with prior hardware, improved ROI, enabled more SMs per AP (reducing towers), and delivered measurable throughput (PTP up to 368 Mbps; ePMP 100 Mbps in a 20 MHz channel), cutting operational and maintenance costs and increasing revenue as WSP expands services like VOIP, data and soon IPTV.
