A Cambium Networks Case Study
The German city of Nidda, home to about 18,000 people across 18 districts, sought to improve quality of life by deploying free public Wi‑Fi through the EU’s WiFi4EU program but faced constraints like monument protection limits, the need to cover multiple indoor and outdoor sites, and strict security requirements. To meet these challenges Nidda selected Cambium Networks (with partner Chilinet Solutions GmbH) and its products, including cnPilot access points, ePMP Force radio relay components and the cnMaestro central management platform.
Cambium Networks’ solution—19 cnPilot access points, four ePMP Force radios (supporting two radio links) and cnMaestro for centralized management—was installed in about nine months using WiFi4EU funding. The rollout now delivers free Wi‑Fi at the town hall, outdoor pool and multiple hotspots across the city center, providing broad public connectivity and a foundation for Nidda to develop further Smart City services.
