Wi-Fi 6 Connects 12,000 Students

Burke County Public Schools, a 25‑school district in North Carolina serving about 12,000 students, needed a high‑density wireless network to support streaming video, simultaneous Zoom sessions, Google Workspace and a growing 1:1 device program during COVID. Using E‑Rate funding, the district turned to Cambium Networks and its Wi‑Fi 6 solution (XV3‑8 access points and XMS‑Cloud network management) to deliver multi‑gigabit speeds and predictable performance for a BYOD learning environment.

Cambium Networks deployed roughly 1,500 XV3‑8 Wi‑Fi 6 APs managed by XMS‑Cloud, providing centralized control (including the ability to manage up to 2,000 edge applications), multi‑gigabit throughput, and seamless integration with Google Workspace. The rollout delivered reliable concurrent video streams, reduced roaming strain between classrooms, and supported Burke County’s expanded 1:1 initiative—bringing high‑density, affordable wireless performance across the district’s 25 schools and 12,000 students.
