Washa Wi-Fi Transforms Nairobi with Sustainable, High-Speed Internet Access

Syokinet, an internet service provider in Nairobi, launched the Washa Wi‑Fi initiative to bring affordable, high‑speed internet to busy public spaces like bus stations and marketplaces. They faced major deployment barriers — utility poles lacked AC power and early internal solar builds proved costly and non‑scalable — so Syokinet turned to Cambium Networks, deploying cnPilot e510 outdoor access points and the Cambium ONE Network (managed via cnMaestro) to extend their fiber network into public hotspots.

Cambium Networks’ cnPilot e510 APs were integrated with FTP‑300 solar PoE units (deployed by Optace/Fuzion) to create a plug‑and‑play, solar‑powered hotspot solution with fiber backhaul. The Cambium ONE Network simplified management and automation, enabling rapid, low‑cost rollouts, reduced reliance on AC power, stronger high‑density coverage in footfall areas, improved operational efficiency, and the confidence of a multi‑year warranty — helping Syokinet scale service and increase digital inclusion across Nairobi.
