A Cambium Networks Case Study
The Solomon Islands Government (SIG) struggled with limited, unreliable connectivity across 93 offices in Honiara, high ICT costs, and a government mandate to centralize services through the ICT Support Unit. To meet requirements for rapid deployment, scalability, relocation flexibility and operation in hot, humid conditions, SIG adopted Cambium Networks technology (PTP 600, PMP 320 and the Cambium Wireless Manager) implemented with partner CBO.
Cambium Networks deployed a high‑bandwidth backbone (10 PTP 600 links to high‑usage sites and a 9‑link PTP 600 ring providing 100–300 Mbps), plus 18 PMP 320 base stations on licensed 3.5 GHz for distributed sites and Wireless Manager for network oversight; CBO trained SIG technicians for operations. The network has performed reliably, improved inter‑department communications, supported customs, payroll and vehicle licensing systems, enabled low‑latency VoIP/video, and produced measurable reductions in recurrent Internet and support costs, fewer outages and faster delivery of government services.
