The Moscone Center Delivers Rock Solid Wi-Fi to 18,000+ Attendees

The Moscone Center, San Francisco’s flagship convention and exhibition campus spanning more than 2 million square feet and three buildings, needed rock‑solid, high‑density Wi‑Fi to support thousands of attendees, exhibitors, staff and facility IoT devices. To meet this challenge as part of a citywide initiative, the Moscone Center selected Cambium Networks’ Xirrus Wi‑Fi solution (Xirrus is now part of Cambium Networks) to deliver a consistent, scalable wireless experience.

Cambium Networks deployed Xirrus multi‑radio APs and the XMS management system beginning in 2012, growing the installation from 90 APs to 375 APs plus 150 portable units to support large keynotes and events; most events run on all‑5 GHz for maximum bandwidth. The solution delivered measurable results—supporting peaks of 18,000+ concurrent devices, peak bandwidths over 2 Gbps (aggregate throughput routinely 1.5 Gbps+), an estimated 4.8 million connections from 2012–2019, and no major outages—backed by strong Cambium Networks technical support.
