The City of Chicago Increases Situational Awareness with Fixed Wireless Broadband From Cambium Networks

The City of Chicago needed a dependable wireless infrastructure to support its unified public‑safety video and sensor network where fiber access was limited and cellular links were costly or unreliable. To meet that challenge the City of Chicago turned to Cambium Networks, deploying Cambium’s fixed wireless broadband/fixed wireless solutions to deliver the high throughput, low latency and rugged performance required for mission‑critical video.

Cambium Networks implemented a multi‑gigabit wireless fabric (operating on 4.9 GHz with the flexibility to use 5 GHz) that now supports over 4,000 cameras, has run reliably for more than 10 years, and withstood Chicago’s extreme temperatures (-22°F to 105°F). By providing high spectral efficiency, strong interference tolerance and lower total cost of ownership versus cellular, Cambium Networks enabled scalable, evidentiary‑quality video connectivity relied upon for investigations, planning and overall public safety.
