South Korean Nature-Based Tourism Center Calls on Xirrus Wi-Fi to Keep the JPEGs Flowing

Sancheong Smart City, the Wi‑Fi deployment program run by the Sancheong County Office, needed to deliver reliable, affordable public connectivity across a rugged, tourism‑dependent region where heavy photo/video sharing and geography strained existing infrastructure. To meet that challenge the municipality selected Cambium Networks’ Xirrus Wi‑Fi access points and the Xirrus Management System for a distributed, weather‑resilient wireless solution.

Cambium Networks installed high‑performance, directional Xirrus APs and XMS cloud management to provide uniform, high‑capacity coverage at parks, markets, campsites and festival sites—handling crowds of tens of thousands while using about 75% fewer APs than competing solutions. The deployment enabled remote management, tourist‑usage analytics and rapid scaling (a second site received a 2.5× larger budget and was certified as a reference case), delivering clear cost savings and improved service reliability for Sancheong Smart City.
