A Cambium Networks Case Study
SkyNet de Colombia, a Bogotá‑based satellite telecommunications provider, took on the challenge of expanding internet access for the San Rafael de Leticia Hospital and surrounding communities in the Amazonas region to support telemedicine during the COVID‑19 crisis. The remote area required four Wi‑Fi zones covering more than 7,800 m2, capacity for up to 40 concurrent users, and reliable connectivity to enable virtual consultations and information access. SkyNet deployed Cambium Networks equipment—specifically cnPilot e410 and e500 Wi‑Fi access points—to meet these needs.
SkyNet de Colombia installed a total of 10 Cambium Networks APs (2 cnPilot e410 outdoors and 8 cnPilot e500 indoors) and implemented a captive portal for access and traffic management, benefitting from the vendor’s easy configuration. The deployment enabled roughly 200 people to connect in each zone and provided about 20 hospital staff with reliable Wi‑Fi, supporting increased telemedicine appointments, shorter wait times, and reduced COVID‑19 exposure in healthcare settings.
