Case Study: VideoData achieves citywide HD surveillance and major OPEX savings with Cambium Networks

A Cambium Networks Case Study

Preview of the VideoData Case Study

Protecting the City and the Budget

VideoData was contracted to design, install and hand over a 90‑camera, district‑wide video surveillance system in Budapest within 90 days while cutting operational expense and eliminating costly leased lines. To modernize an aging analog network and deliver HD video for public safety and public works, VideoData selected Cambium Networks solutions—PTP 650 for high‑speed backhaul and ePMP for point‑to‑multipoint camera access.

Cambium Networks’ PTP 650 and ePMP built a private wireless network that replaced leased lines, enabled optimal camera placement to reduce rental costs, and supported 4–6 HD cameras per ePMP AP. The deployment achieved stable field performance—consistent 6 Mbps camera uploads, ePMP throughput of 50–100 Mbps on a 20 MHz channel, PTP 650 capacity up to 450 Mbps, and 10–15 ms latency—no equipment failures, a 2–3 year payback expectation, and plans to expand with hundreds more cameras using Cambium Networks.
