Case Study: Large Internet Service Provider achieves nearly 600 Mbps reliable broadband across the Calakmul jungle with Cambium Networks

Overcoming Extreme Terrain for Reliable Wireless Connectivity in the Calakmul Jungle

Large Internet Service Provider operating in the remote Calakmul Jungle needed to deliver reliable broadband across dense vegetation, unstable ground and obstructive small mountains, with equipment mounted on towers up to 80 m high. To solve this, the provider partnered with Cambium Networks and deployed its ePMP 6 GHz Force 4600C subscriber modules, NetPoint NP6 antennas, LINKPlanner simulation tools and the ONE Network management platform.

Cambium Networks tuned antenna alignment and configurations using LINKPlanner and field adjustments to boost signal from about -84 dBm to -66 to -70 dBm and achieve nearly 600 Mbps peak performance; test results showed example downlink of ~493 Mbps, uplink ~243 Mbps and 0% packet loss. The solution proved reliable in extreme terrain, enabled the ISP to plan for future 2 Gbps upgrades, and gave the Large Internet Service Provider confidence to pursue at least 100 new customers and recover part of its investment.
