Oregon Convention Center Benefits From Flexible, HD Network

The Oregon Convention Center needed a reliable, high‑density Wi‑Fi solution to support large and variable events—up to 10,000 attendees with roughly 3,300 simultaneous connections—and wanted flexible coverage for spaces that are frequently reconfigured plus centralized management by a two‑person IT team. To meet those needs they deployed Cambium Networks’ Xirrus Wi‑Fi solution, including Xirrus access points and the Xirrus Management System (XMS).

Cambium Networks’ Xirrus APs (with 4–8 radios each) and XMS let OCC mix 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz radios by space, reconfigure coverage in minutes, and centrally manage the network without sending technicians to each AP. The deployment uses about one‑fourth the APs of other solutions, routinely supports ~1,000 devices in 15,000 sq. ft. and up to 2,000 users in a single hall, and provides real‑time usage reports and on‑demand bandwidth adjustments—resulting in rock‑solid performance and consistently positive customer feedback.
