A Cambium Networks Case Study
Nova Scotia’s provincial government faced a major digital divide: roughly 200,000 rural residents (about 93,500 civic addresses, 5,600 businesses and numerous schools/medical facilities) lacked high‑speed Internet. To reach its aggressive goal of 100% broadband access, the province launched the Broadband for Rural Nova Scotia initiative and selected fixed wireless as the solution, leveraging Cambium Networks’ fixed wireless point‑to‑point (PTP) and point‑to‑multipoint (PMP) technologies.
Using Cambium Networks’ PTP and PMP gear, service partners built a network of more than 400 structures in about 2½ years to deliver 1.5 Mbps service across the entire province. The rollout reached 100% geographic coverage (serving 93,500 addresses), achieved roughly 40% subscriber uptake to date, enabled a sustainable service provider business model, and transformed access to education, healthcare and commerce—becoming a global model for rural broadband.
