A Cambium Networks Case Study
North Coast Wireless, a local ISP serving the Lorain County Fair in Wellington, Ohio, faced rapidly growing connectivity demands from electronic ticketing, vendor point-of-sale, livestock-auction software and animal tracking amid crowds up to 130,000. With seasonal weather, budget constraints and overloaded 4G, North Coast Wireless turned to Cambium Networks and its cnPilot outdoor enterprise WiFi solution (alongside cnPilot E400, ePMP 1000 and cnMaestro management) to design a permanent, robust fairground network.
Cambium Networks’ deployment—using cnPilot E400 indoor APs, ePMP 1000 outdoor hotspots, ePMP Force 180 and PTP backhaul links managed via cnMaestro—now supports about 650 concurrent users, over 3,000 unique daily connections and roughly 18,000 weekly connections. The network enabled reliable vendor transactions, ticketing, emergency comms, security cameras and even live streaming of events, plus captive-portal advertising and bandwidth controls (initial public limits were 4 Mbps down/1 Mbps up), delivering a measurable, technology-friendly improvement praised by North Coast Wireless and the fair board.
