Case Study: City of Aurora achieves gigabit-speed, PCI-compliant connectivity with Cambium Networks

A Cambium Networks Case Study

Preview of the City of Aurora Case Study

Municipal Network in Aurora, Colorado Goes Gigabit Speed

The City of Aurora needed to replace 31 aging, unreliable 5 GHz links after receiving CARES Act funding to upgrade infrastructure for public safety, voice/data, video surveillance, LAN extension and PCI‑compliant credit card processing. Integrator Castle Rock Microwave selected Cambium Networks’ gigabit wireless solutions — primarily 60 GHz cnWave and 80 GHz PTP 850E radios — to deliver the capacity and reliability Aurora required.

Castle Rock deployed 31 links (17 60 GHz cnWave links with V5000 and V3000 nodes plus 14 PTP 850E hops), using Cambium Networks’ LINKPlanner and support services to plan and commission the network. The result was multi‑gigabit performance (cnWave links supporting up to ~1.8 Gbps and PTP 850E at 10 Gbps, with dashboards showing ~1.81 Gbps Rx/1.82 Gbps Tx), secure PCI‑capable links for locations like parks and concessions, faster deployment than fiber, on‑time and on‑budget delivery, and improved public Wi‑Fi, enterprise connectivity and distance‑learning support for the City of Aurora.
