Marist College Ashgrove Combines High-Density Wi-Fi and BYOD-Enriched Learning

Marist College Ashgrove, a boys’ day and boarding school near Brisbane with 1,700 students, needed a high‑density wireless solution and BYOD support because wired outlets were insufficient and a small IT team had to manage many devices. Cambium Networks addressed this challenge by deploying Xirrus Wi‑Fi access points and the XMS management system to provide campus‑wide wireless coverage and simple central management.

Cambium Networks’ Xirrus deployment delivered simultaneous, high‑performance connectivity across classrooms, the library, cafeteria and a 500‑seat auditorium (and plans to extend to the quad and sports fields), with just three Xirrus APs covering a nine‑classroom building and handling traffic from the school’s 1,700 students. The solution enabled BYOD for grades 8–10, supported 802.11ac performance, made network management easy via XMS, and let teachers move between rooms without re‑logging—meeting the school’s goal of allowing students and teachers to access learning materials anywhere.
